FAQ

Where is my free book?
I am glad you asked. Until 2006, all new Perl on Call subscribers will get a free copy of Damian Conway's new book Perl Best Practices. I laud over it in the Code Review page. So you must subscribe so that Damian can live in the life he is accustomed to. The book is not due out until OSCON 2005 (August 1st) so you will have to wait until then to get your free copy.
Why the weekly period?
I decided for weekly since it will be easier to track subscriptions and do things like giving out free bonus weeks. Also if I take a week off, it will be easier to account for that. A monthly cycle seems to me to be the wrong granularity. But if your company wants to negotiate a different subscription schedule, feel free to email me at .
Why are subscriptions pre-paid?
"Damnit, Jim, I am a Perl Guru, not a bill collector!"
Why Did I Launch Perl On Call?
Let me tell you a little about my background and I hope it will answer you question. In 1975, I entered MIT where I crammed four years of school into eight years. I actually did get my B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering (Course VI-3 for you tech tools) in 1983. My software career started with PL/I on punchcards and then later I specialized in PDP-11 assembler and RT-11, C and UNIX and finally Perl and UNIX. I now call myself a Perl Raconteur since I like to tell stories about computer science and such but always while speaking in Perl. My goal is to have many subscribers with a wide mix of Perl stories which will both challenge and energize me.
